There are often some special things that happen within the life and ministry of an active church.

 CHURCH ANNIVERSARY -24-8-10
This Sunday, 29th August 2010, SBBC will celebrate its anniversary! We have a very special guest speaker for the occasion...Rev CHRIS FOLEY MP, the sitting member for Maryborough in the Queensland parliament. In addition to being a very popular pollie, Chris is the pastor of a happening church in Maryborough and one of Australia's pioneers of contemporary Christian music. This is going to be a very special service....plan not to miss it!

PASTOR IAN'S MISSION TRIP - 11-5-10

On Wednesday, 12th May, Pastor Ian flies out of Brisbane bound for Chisinau, the capital of Moldova. As the National Director of CCI-Australia (Crossover Communications International), Ian is involved in the International Leadership Team conference of the global Crossover movement, You can follow his trip blog at www.graphicheartproductions.com.au/blog . Ian will return on Monday, 24th May.

CONVERSATIONAL ENGLISH CLASS - 12-4-10

Our Conversational English Class will start up again this Wednesday evening (14-4-10) at 7pm. Anyone wanting to improve their English-speaking ability and wanting to make new friends is welcome to come along.

CONVERSATIONAL ENGLISH CLASS - 1/4/10

Our very popular Conversational English class will take a week's break. It will not be held on Wednesday, April 7th, but will recommence at 7pm on Wednesday, 14th April.

"BRIDGES" ISM Group - 1/4/10

Due to the Easter break, our BRIDGES (International Student Ministry) group will not be meeting on Friday, April 2nd. It will recommence the following Friday (April 9th) at 7pm.

EASTER SERVICES - 1/4/10

Our GOOD FRIDAY service will commence at 10am. This will be a special service reflecting on the loving sacrifice of our Lord Jesus Christ who died for us.

The EASTER SUNDAY service will be at the normal time of 10am...a time of celebrating the resurrection of Jesus.

You are most welcome to come and share in these special services with us.

CONVERSATIONAL ENGLISH CLASS - 25/1/10

This Wednesday (January 27th) sees our FREE Conversational English Class start up again for another great year. We look forward to catching up with lots of students from last year, as well as meeting many new students. All are welcome! The class starts at 7pm and is held at the church...218 Vulture Street, South Brisbane. Supper is provided, too!

CHRISTMAS DAY SERVICE - 22/12/09

The church will hold its special Christmas Day celebration on December 25th (Friday) at 9am. We hope you will be able to make it along and share in our celebration of the birth of our Lord Jesus Christ.

CHURCH FAMILY CONCERT! - 7/12/09

On SATURDAY (12/12/09) we will be having another one of our end-of-year CONCERTS! It is going to be a really great time of fun, fantastic talent, fellowship and food (a light supper at the end). The concert will commence at 7pm...make sure you are there early to get a good seat!

CONVERSATIONAL ENGLISH BREAK-UP- 7/12/09

This Wednesday (December 9th) will be the last of our Conversational English classes for the year. We will resume the classes on Wednesday, 27th January, 2010.

"THE LIVING ROOM"- 26/11/09
The last session of THE LIVING ROOM will be this Sunday, November 29th at 6.30pm.
It will be a great way to end the year...we are having THE GREAT DEBATE! Come along and hear the arguments for and against the hot topic:....THE EVANGELICAL CHRISTIAN CHURCH SHOULD BE PRO-ACTIVELY INVOLVED IN ISSUES OF SOCIAL JUSTICE, ENVIRONMENTAL CONCERN AND COMMUNITY MORALITY.
And, in addition to the debate, there will be a bit of a slideshow with a few favourite photos from people. Each one who brings a photo(s) has to be explaining the significance of the shots. Should be a nice, personal way to round out another year in THE LIVING ROOM.
This Sunday at 6.30pm...see you there!

CHRISTMAS CAROL SERVICE- 19/11/09
Our annual Carols Service will be held on Sunday, December 6th, commencing at 7pm. All are very welcome to come along and join in celebrating the real meaning and message of Christmas through the much-loved songs of Christmas.

CONVERSATIONAL ENGLISH CLASS - 19/11/09
Our English Class continues to be very popular...last night we had a "record" attendance of 51 students! Our students come from many countries in Asia, South America, Europe, and the Middle East. Everyone is welcome and it is entirely FREE. Starts at 7pm.
Our English Class will be going into recess over the summer school vacation period. The last English Class for the year will be on Wednesday, December 9th. The classes will start up again in the new year on Wednesday, January 27th.

Return from Mission Trip - 18/10/09

Today Pastor Ian is back in charge of the church having returned from the mission trip during which he ministered in Moldovia nd visited Egypt, Greece (tracing Bible steps) and USA to talk with the mission leaders.  It will be good to hear of God's work this morning

Mission Trip - 7/09/09
Pastor Ian leave on Monday for a further mission trip visiting Nepal again on his way to Moldovia and Ukraine.
He will be joined in Moldovia by a team of fellow workers from Australia and New Zealand (including from SBBC) and they will spend several weeks helping and ministering with the local believers there.  CCI has a long relationship with Moldovian christians and this is just one of many such teams sharing through out the summer.

Mission Trip - 05/06/2009
Pastor Ian flies out of Australia on Friday, June 12th, for a couple of weeks during which he will spend time in India, Nepal and South Korea as part of his role as National Director of CCI-Australia (Crossover Communications International - Australia).

EASTER SERVICES - 08/04/2009
The church will hold its special Good Frdiay service this Friday (April 10th) at 10am. Our Easter Sunday service will be at the normal time of 10am on Sunday. Everyone is very welcome to attend our Easter services this weekend....and all our services on any weekend!

English Class Recess - 08/04/2009
Our very popular Conversational English Class will be having a one-week break during the Easter school holidays. The classes will resume at 7pm on Wednesday, April 22nd.

CONVERSATIONAL ENGLISH CLASS - 13/01/2009
Our very popular CONVERSATIONAL ENGLISH Class will be re-starting on WEDNESDAY, 28th January, at 7pm. This is a free class and anyone wanting to improve their English-speaking is welcome to come along.

New Associate Pastor - 13/01/2009
We are thrilled to welcome Paul Ryttersgaard to the pastoral team here at South Bank Baptist. Paul started on January 5th and will be overseeing the various aspects of pastoral care ministry within the church. Paul is a Canadian by birth but now an Aussie by choice! And he is passionate about people and their relationship with Jesus. We're excited about where this new appointment will take us!

Mission to Moldova - 18/09/2008
The team is now departing for the short term mission trip to Moldova. This has been organized through CCI-Australia. The team comprises 10 people from Brisbane (including 5 from South Bank Baptist) and three from New Zealand. The team will be returning in early October. Pastor Ian will continue on for further ministry in Ukraine.
